The Julian of Norwich Prayer/Pastoral Care Group is an intercessory
prayer group that serves the needs of the parish. You can request prayer by
calling a member of our group or the parish office. We also have a prayer
request box that you can use located in the foyer of the Pearson Hall. It
will be checked each Sunday and also during the week. All that is entrusted to
us is done in strictest confidence. Those interested in joining the group are
welcome to attend. If you are interested in a web site with prayers for
use in time of war, here is one of many: http://www.invitationtoprayer.org/.
We meet each Tuesday at 10:00 am for about one hour in the lower level classroom of the Parish Hall. We hope you consider joining us at that time. It is an important and rewarding ministry. Each new member brings something intangible to our group and we will be happy to have you with us.
Beginning
January 6, 2008 - PEOPLE OF THE BOOK “Bible 101”
The
Bible is the book that draws Christians together. It is also the book that
often divides us. But what and how much do we really know about the basics of
this ‘book’? And, is it really a
‘book’?
The Edwardsville Desperados (a.k.a, the Men's Group) of St. Andrew's
are invited to meet at breakfast at the Ponderosa Restaurant on the west side
of Rt. 159 just south of Cottonwood Mall in Glen
Carbon. The time is 8:30 am or thereabouts on every third Saturday of the
month. Please come join us for breakfast, fellowship, and some lively
discussions. All are welcome; bring a friend.
The XYZ group meets on the second Tuesday of each month just to socialize. The group and those who hang around with them will be eating together at the Coffee Talk just down the street from the Church beginning about 11:30 am. Rides are available for those who need them. This is a very informal group; wear casual dress. Please contact the church office (656-1929) by phone or by email (andrewssec@sbcglobal.net) for more information or for ride availability.
· Outreach Committee's Meal-a-Month Program
Each month the Outreach Committee collects food for the Meal-a-Month program. Parishioners are asked to donate all or some items from this menu and place them in the basket at the rear entrance to Pearson Hall.
The Flowers and Candles sign-up sheets are posted on the bulletin
board by the soda machine for those who wish to sign-up for a Sunday as a
memorial or a thanksgiving. If you have any questions please see Kathryn
Hopkins or Margaret Slaughter
·
ECW sells 100% cotton dishcloths for $1.25 each. We have colors of Red, yellow, and green.
·
We, also, have our famous Cookbook on sale for $7.00
from the original price of $10.00. These
cookbooks are full of our parishioners’ yummy recipes. This cookbook is different from most cookbooks
because the recipes are put in as a meal for a church season, i.e., Advent,
Christmas, etc.
·
Mayfest knit shirts are for sale for $12.00 each. Many sizes:
S-M-L-XL. You may see Velma Schmidt for
purchasing.
·
ECW sponsors Coffee Hour. We see that
supplies (coffee, cream, sugar, napkins, etc.) are there for the host or
hostess. A donation bowl is set out each Sunday for donations to help pay for
these items. You may drop in each week,
once a month, or for the whole year.
Please be generous and help us with this expense. A $1.03 (one Sunday’s donation) doesn’t get
the job done. Thank you for your help
with this expense.
