An excerpt from Mother Bennett's entry in The Shield this month:
"While I am on sabbatical our assisting priest, Fr. George Pence, will
be the priest in charge. In case of emergencies please contact the
parish office as usual or Fr. Pence. Once of the things that makes me
feel good about going on this portion of my sabbatical is knowing that
you will be in the very capable hands of Fr. Pence. I want to express
my gratitite to him for his willingness to serve the parish in this
way. I know you all will be truly blessed by his and Ione's presense
during this time period."
The
biggest change is during the summer the 8 a.m. Holy Eucharist and 10
a.m. Holy Eucharist will be merged into one mass at 9 a.m. beginning
June 1. This schedule will end this fall.

Feb. 12,
2008 - Updates for Lent
|
The site has
moved to a new server. We apologize if anyone is experiencing technical
difficulties.
Current schedule is as follows for the duration of Lent, which began
Feb. 6:
Lenten
Wednesdays
begin this Wednesday, Feb. 13. They begin with a 6 p.m. Holy Eucharist
with Holy Unction, followed by "Soup and Sandwiches" at 6:30, "Class"
beginning at 7 p.m. and the Office of Compline at 8:15 p.m. This will
be added to the calendar on the left.
Every Friday we will begin Stations
of the Cross.
Unlike last year, this service has been moved to 7 p.m. On Good Friday,
March 21, it will be observed at 12:10 p.m. but is not a substitute for
attendance of the Good Friday service that same evening. This devotion
consists of the offering of prayer at fourteen stations within the
church that reflect events associated with our Lord's passion and
death. The object of the
stations is to help the faithful to make a spiritual
pilgrimage of
prayer to the chief scenes of Christ's sufferings and death.

| Jan. 14,
2008 - Parish meeting and confirmation information. Important! |
The parish
will be holding its annual
meeting Jan. 27. The meeting will begin with a joint Holy Eucharist
beginning at 9 a.m. followed by a potluck brunch and the annual Parish
Meeting. The meeting has been moved from Sunday, Feb. 3, because the
Bishop's visitation and confirmations will be held instead. There will not be an 8 a.m. or 10
a.m. Holy Eucharist this day. It will be conjoined in this service.
The Bishop's visitation and reception of confirmands will be the
following Sunday,
Feb. 3, instead. Please join us for this celebration! Addition: This
service will be at the regular time, 10 a.m.

| Dec. 30,
2007 - New Year! |
All
the news from the previous year has been archived. If you are missing
something from that news cycle, please take a look in the Downloads
section on the left, under "News from previous years." This will be
done annually to keep the front page clean.
Beginning next week,
Jan. 6, Mother Bennett will beginning the new Rector's Class, People of
the Book, "Bible 101." From her entry in the Shield:
"The Bible
is the book that draws Christians together. It is also the book that
often divides us. But what and how much do we really know about the
basics of this 'book'? And, is it really
a 'book'?
In
this class we will look at the bible from several different aspects;
where it came from how it was put together, who decided what was to be
put in it. What wen into making it the book we describe as 'holy' and
what does that mean for us?
We will also look at the theme,
historical setting, and focus of every 'book' in the Bible. This is an
awesome task and while there is no way that we can cover everything, we
can cover a great deal and hopefully learn much useful information in
the process."
The class begins at 9:10 a.m. and will be every Sunday after until it
ends. Hope you will come! |
