The Vestry of St. Andrew's-Edwardsville, Diocese of Springfield, has re-opened its search for a rector. St. Andrew's is a mid-sized parish located in southwestern Illinois or St. Louis Metro East.
The church was established in Edwardsville in 1841 and has worshiped at its current site on Hillsboro Avenue since 1872. The original church at this location was razed but later rebuilt in 1916.
In 2002, St. Andrew’s added a much-needed addition that is connected to the church by a cloistered walkway. The addition includes a large parish hall and adjoining kitchen, library, offices, church bell, multiple classrooms for church school, nursery, and prayer room.
Interested candidates will find more information about this position and life at St. Andrew's on this website and in the OTM Ministry Portfolio. Contacts for information related to the search are included in the profile and below:
As we progress in our search for a new Rector, we look forward to sharing hopes, dreams and expectations with a Rector who is comfortable with and convincing about his or her beliefs. We are hoping to find someone enthusiastic in their ministry, organized, innovative, energized, and skilled in conveying God’s message to the congregation.
Our new Rector should help us in empowering the congregation to deepen their faith and encouraging them to share it with the world. We are open to moving out of our “comfort zone” and receptive to clergy with different ideas and strengths.

Edwardsville, a city of 26,000, and the third-oldest city in Illinois, incorporated in 1818 is the county seat of Madison County, whose county offices and courthouse anchor a bustling Main Street just a few blocks away from the church. Southern Illinois University Edwardsville is a vibrant presence in our community, offering 334 undergraduate and graduate programs to about 14,000 students.
Just to the south, the Village of Glen Carbon is a largely residential community that is also home to familiar ‘big-box’ stores and several restaurants. Most of our congregation call this “Glen/Ed” area and its surrounding communities home.
Our community’s school district, District 7, is widely recognized as one of the best in the state, with outstanding test scores and enviable sports and arts programs. Edwardsville is also the hub of an 85-mile network of bike trails crisscrossing the region. And with St. Louis just 25 miles away, we have ready access to all the cultural, sports, and commercial resources a major metropolitan area can offer.
