Acolytes

Acolytes assist the ministers of St. Andrew’s in celebrating Sunday and special services. There is no minimum age for acolytes. Children may begin as torch bearers at an early age, but adult parishioners also serve as acolytes.

An acolyte can assist in worship by carrying a processional cross, lighting candles, holding the Gospel book, holding candles or “torches,” assisting a deacon or priest in setting and cleaning up at the altar, helping with incense, handing the offering plates to ushers, and many other tasks as seen fit by the priest or Acolyte Master.
