Fall Book Sales
Two Fall Book Sales!
October 3 - Outdoor Clearance Sale
St. Andrew’s Book Fair will hold a Fall Outdoor Clearance Sale on Saturday, October 3 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m.in the yard and parking lot at the back of the church at 406 Hillsboro in Edwardsville. A rain date of October 10 has been scheduled.
Reservations are not required for the outdoor sale, but all volunteers and patrons are required to wear masks, tables will be socially distanced, and hand sanitizer will be available. All books, DVDs, CDs, records, and games at the clearance sale are priced at 50¢ each to make checkout quick and easy with little contact needed. Payment is by cash or check.
The clearance sale is being held because St. Andrew’s has continued to receive books despite limitations on sales. The church currently has thousands of books that do not fit on the regular sales floor.
November 6 and 7 - Indoor Sale (Normal quarterly sale)
The regularly scheduled Fall Book Fair will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 6-7, by appointment only. Hours have been expanded to 2 to 8 p.m. on Friday November 6, and 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, November 7.
Due to precautions for the prevention of COVID-19, the number of patrons at any given time is limited to 12. Patrons can sign up by the half hour for a maximum of six slots (3 hours) per day. If patrons are unable to attend after registering for the event, they are asked to cancel their reservation to open spaces for others.
Area book lovers may sign up for the November sale here or, those without computer access, can call 618-656-1294.
The regular St. Andrew’s Book Fair features more than 20,000 used books, well organized and priced to sell. Categories include fiction (hardcover and paperback), children’s books, history, literature, pets, sports, regional history, cookbooks, gardening, art, biography, music, humor, large print, religion, reference, science fiction and much more. The books are sorted by category with some categories also alphabetized by author. DVDs, CDs, vinyl, puzzles, and games are also available.
Since the November Book Fair is an indoor event, precautions include moving the entrance to the garden area at the back of the church with the exit through the normal entrance door on Hillsboro Avenue. This will ensure that patrons won’t pass in the hall as they are coming and going. Hand sanitizer and antibacterial wipes will be available at the entrance and exit. The cashier will be separated from the public with a plexiglass shield and social distancing will be encouraged. Both volunteers and patrons will be required to wear masks.
Questions about either sale should be addressed to fair organizers Mike and Cindy Reinhardt who can be reached at 618-656-1294.
